Construction Industry Second Annual Mental Health Conference, Doltone House, Jones Bay Wharf, Sydney, 5th March 2015
Mates in Construction (a WHPN member) is proud to be the host and organiser of this national conference “Mental health at work – do we care?” that focuses on reducing suicide and improving mental health and wellbeing in the Australian Construction Industry, and workplaces in general.
This year’s program includes four international key note speakers all with varied lived experiences of mental health and suicide including Kevin Briggs, a retired police officer, who is known as the “Guardian of the Golden Gate Bridge”, where less than 1% of people who jumped from the bridge have survived and Kevin Hines, one of those Golden Gate survivors will be sharing their powerful stories. There is also a panel discussion which includes representatives from the NSW Mental Health Commission, Newcastle University and the Hunter Institute for Mental Health. Speakers will also be discussing the results of research into FIFO workers, effective programs reaching men and the global experience in best practice suicide prevention.
As a special offer WHPN members are able to register at a discounted rate but there is only a limited number of tickets left to purchase at this price. Further information about the conference can be found here. Please contact Sharon firstname.lastname@example.org for access to your discount.
