What are you/your organisation currently focusing on in terms of workplace health and wellbeing?
Endeavour Wellness provides Psychological Therapy and support. At the present moment we are working with businesses who are looking for mental health and wellbeing support for their staff members. We work with all aspects of mental health from individual issues, to family issues, children and relationships.
What aspect of workplace health and wellbeing does your organisation do well in?
We work really well with organisations who are looking for formal psychological support and interventions for members of their staff.
What’s your biggest challenge working in workplace health and wellbeing?
Our biggest challenge is in helping people to understand, and seek out, the help of professional and well-trained Psychologists. We need to help workplaces, managers and individual employees understand that the best way to manage, treat and overcome mental health issues is with Psychological therapy.
How does WayAhead Workplaces add value to your organisation’s health and wellbeing program?
It allows me the opportunity to meet and form relationships with people within workplaces who can help support the Psychological needs of their teams. It makes myself and my team more visible, which is very important as a psychological practice.
How do you deal with stress?
I like to exercise and spend time with my family and friends. I like to take a proactive approach to any issues which may be causing me stress. If there is a solution to the issue, I like to work hard to address whatever it is I need to.
What are the key issues and considerations for people in workplace health and wellbeing roles?
I think it is so important to be proactive about mental health and wellbeing. While it’s critical to provide workplaces which are healthy and positive, it is also important to identify and address any issues which individuals may be experiencing with Mental Health. If you know of anyone who is struggling to address or manage their own personal issues, get them help ASAP. Don’t sit back and wait. Be proactive, be supportive, and make sure they are seeking the best help available.
How do you switch off from work?
I am very deliberate about it. I make sure that each day when I leave the office I am focused on who I want to be when I get home. I want to be focused on my family and my own wellbeing. I make sure that I am staying on top of any issues at work or home so that I can be proactive and focused at the same time.
What is your best time-saving tip?
Do what you need to do when you need to do it. Do it one task at a time. Never be focused on anything other than what you are doing in this moment in time.
What do you think the future of work health and wellness programs look like?
Individualised and tailored to the needs of the people using them. The one size fits all approach is dead. I would like to see people taking more personal responsibility for their work mental wellbeing and engaging in activities which promote and support their own mental wellness. I would also like to see individuals reaching out for Psychological help as soon as there is an issue with their personal mental wellbeing.
