Small Steps at your Workplace

Anxiety awareness seminars for parents of primary school-aged children

WayAhead’s leading Small Steps program aims to raise awareness and improve the recognition of anxiety disorders in children. Historically delivered only in schools, you can now book a Small Steps seminar for your workplace.

“Small Steps makes the tricky subject of childhood anxiety very approachable. Our staff left feeling more confident to recognise, understand and support the children in their lives who have anxiety”- Zoe Wooldridge, NSW Ambulance, Project Office

About Small Steps

Small Steps was created to respond to a growing need in the community, as there was increasing recognition that children can show signs of anxiety from a very young age, and parents and teachers haven’t always felt equipped to recognise and respond to childhood anxiety.

The program has been running successfully in primary schools across NSW for more than 20 years. Offering this in the workplace means that parents who work won’t miss out and are able to increase their knowledge on this important topic.

The program was developed by WayAhead’s Anxiety Reference Group and sessions are delivered by experienced facilitators with lived experience of mental health. The seminar will run for one (1) hour including time for audience Q&A, and can be held before, during or after work hours.

Topics covered during the seminar

  • Signs and symptoms of anxiety
  • The different types of anxiety disorders and how they present
  • Evidence-based treatments for anxiety disorders
  • Referral and treatment options
