2014 Annual Members’ Forum

“Leadership in the workplace – how can we get our leaders on board to create healthy workplaces?”

An important question and an essential one in creating workplaces that support workers health. Speakers came from diverse backgrounds including the Mental Health Commissioner of NSW, John Feneley and the NSW Minister for Mental Health, the Hon. Jai Rowell.

Members heard presentations from corporations, local government and researchers, as well as panellist discussions, case studies, stimulating conversations and networking opportunities for the 100 members and guests who attended.

Below are videos of three of the 20 minute presentations that provided excellent thought provoking material on the theme of Leadership in the workplace for Network members.

In this video, presenter Jimmy Wright, Lead Recognition Consultant at RED by RedBalloon describes life with his employer. Jimmy talks candidly about his own personal experience, the importance of informal and formal recognition in the workplace, and the difference it makes to working at RedBalloon.

In her presentation, Simone Cook, Manager for People, Learning and Culture at Bankstown City Council discussed the leadership programme her organisation has put in place. It is getting beneficial results.

Finally in this video “Great Leaders, what makes them and how to grow them?”, James Rutherford from Aon Hewitt discusses his organisation’s research on the topic of leadership, which is vital to the health of every organisation.
